And now, a minute with the Word…

Towards the end of his opening remarks in the letter to the church at Corinth, Paul points out the fact that the Gospel message is not what most people would have expected. God chose to use what is foolish to the world to put to shame those who are wise (1 Corinthians 1.27). We can become part of God’s family, not by meritorious works or any great deeds we can do, but we can become part of his family because of his grace. Too many times, I fear, we try and make the Gospel message more complicated than it is. The simple fact of the matter is, Jesus came to earth, lived a perfect & sinless life, died on the cross as the atonement for my sins and the sins of the whole world (1 John 2.2). Let’s keep that message simple. Keep the focus on God and what he has done for us.
