And now, a minute with the Word…

The last two verses of James 5 resound with four important spiritual truths. First, the possibility of apostasy; that is, a Christian can “wander from the truth” (see also 1 Corinthians 10.12). Second, the soul-winning duty of Christians, not just toward the alien sinners in the world, but toward our wandering brethren also (Galatians 6.1). Third, the possibility of restoration; that is, a wandering Christian can return from his error and to fellowship with the Lord and the Lord’s people (1 John 1.8-10). Fourth, the joy of salvation, to be rescued from an eternity of death and the scourge of sin (Romans 6.23). “Thanks be to God for His indescribable gift!” (2 Corinthians 9.15)
