And now, a minute with the Word…

1 Peter 4.10 exhorts us to be “good stewards of the manifold grace of God.” That is to say that God’s grace is a many-fold or multi-faceted thing, variously manifested in our lives. We most often think His saving grace, in passages like Romans 3.21-25a and Ephesians 2.1-10, and understandably so. But also consider other expressions of this “manifold grace” — equipping grace, i.e. the gift of abilities and opportunities, in 1 Peter 4.10-11; helping grace, sustaining us, hearing our prayers, and attending our needs, in 2 Corinthians 9.8 and Hebrews 4.16; and future grace, the motivating hope set before us, to share His glory for all eternity, in 1 Peter 1.13, 3-5. He is indeed “the God of all grace” (1 Peter 5.10).
