1 Peter 5
Series: 2023 Bible ReadingAnd now, a minute with the Word…
1 Peter 5 presents a stark contrast. On the one hand, there are “the elders who are among you” (verses 1-3), who shepherd, serve, oversee, and lead the sheep (see also Acts 20.28), always looking to keep the sheep from harm; and with them, “the Chief Shepherd” (verse 4), also known as “the Good Shepherd” (John 10.11), who desires to give those same sheep “the crown of glory that does not fade away” (1 Peter 5.4). On the other hand, there is our “adversary the devil” who “walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour” (1 Peter 5.8). Simply put, the Lord and His people are our friends; Satan is not. “Resist [the devil], steadfast in the faith” (1 Peter 5.9).
