And now, a minute with the Word…

“His divine power has given us everything required for life and godliness through the knowledge of Him who called us by His own glory and goodness.” Do I believe God has given me everything pertaining to life and godliness? It’s a question that prompts me to examine my faith. It’s a question that asks me if I really rely on God. Through the Scriptures, we know what a life pleasing to God looks like. I would encourage us all to read passages like Ephesians 4.17-5.2 and Colossians 3.1-17 often. Those are excellent reminders of the qualities and characteristics that we are to put on as God’s children. I am to be holy in all of my conduct because God is holy (1 Peter 1.15-16). There is a hymn that we sometimes sing where one of the verses begins: “Sing them over again to me, wonderful words of life; let me more of their beauty see, wonderful words of life.” Let me have an attitude that desires to read/hear the words of Scripture, the words that tell me everything required for life and godliness.
