And now, a minute with the Word…

We can learn a lot from this passage about not judging people. The Jews and the Samaritans have historically not been on good terms. Although both of these groups are descendants of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, they have been at odds. They no longer consider themselves to be one people but two completely different groups and cultures. The Samaritan woman herself thought it strange that Jesus would ask for a drink from her let alone talk with her. Jesus however knew her heart and after they had spoken she began to spread the news about him and others believed. This is a perfect example as to how we should be and should aspire to be about spreading the word. We should share the gospel with everyone without judging in our own minds first about who would or would not be receptive to it. Secondly, we should be as open and joyous as the woman talking to everyone she came across.
