When Athaliah moves to kill all of her grandsons so that she can claim the throne for herself, Jehosheba displays great courage in the face of Athaliah’s wrath. She rescues her one year old nephew Joash and hides him in the Temple for six years. One thing to note — she, along with her husband, hide the child from certain death at the risk of their own lives. They would have certainly been put to death by Athaliah had she found out they were hiding the only surviving son of the king, and the rightful King of Judah. Doing the right thing can, and will be, hard. We must have the courage to step up and do the right thing, even in the face of great danger or wickedness. Let us all learn from the example of Jehosheba.
