And now, a minute with the word…

Jeremiah 29.10-11 — “For thus says the Lord: When seventy years are completed for Babylon, I will visit you, and I will fulfill to you my promise to bring you back to this place. For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.” (ESV)

The beginning of the book of Ezra details for us God fulfilling this promise he had made to the people of Judah during the last years of the kingdom. After the Babylonians had taken God’s people captive for a time period of seventy years, they would be returned to their homeland and God would be with them. They would be restored. Cyrus was God’s instrument in making that come to pass. We serve a God who is in control of everything that happens here on earth. Do I believe that?
