Week 49, Day 5 — A minute with the Word
Series: 2024 Bible ReadingAnd now, a minute with the word…
Zechariah 8.16-17 — “These are the things that you shall do: Speak the truth to one another; render in your gates judgments that are true and make for peace; do not devise evil in your hearts against one another, and love no false oath, for all these things I hate, declares the Lord.” (ESV)
Just as in Zechariah 7.9-10, God again tells His people how they can live a life that He will be pleased with. Do the words that God gave to them over 2,000 years ago sound similar to how we are to treat others around us today? We are to speak the truth to one another in love (Ephesians 4.15); we are to pursue peace with all people (Romans 12.18); and we are to remove all anger, malice, and bitterness from our hearts, and instead be tender-hearted and compassionate to our brothers and sisters in Christ (Ephesians 4.31-32).
