Week 51, Day 4 — Ezra 9-10
Series: 2024 Bible ReadingAnd now, a minute with the word…
Confessing our sin before God is the first step towards repairing our relationship with Him. But simply confessing the matter is not enough. Simply acknowledging it and “pledging to do better next time” won’t cut it. Once we confess our sins, we need to take the next step and move into action. This isn’t in any way saying that our works supersede anything that God can do. However, our heart is made evident by the things that we do.
1 John 1.9 — If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. (ESV)
Judges 10.13-16 — Yet you have forsaken me and served other gods; therefore I will save you no more. Go and cry out to the gods whom you have chosen; let them save you in the time of your distress. And the people of Israel said to the Lord, We have sinned; do to us whatever seems good to you. Only please deliver us this day. So they put away the foreign gods from among them and served the Lord, and He became impatient over the misery of Israel. (ESV)
Let’s have the mindset of the people during Ezra’s day when they were confronted with their sin: acknowledge it, put it away from us, and do what we can to grow closer to our God.
