Week 9, Day 3 — A minute with the Word
Series: 2025 Bible ReadingAnd now, a minute with the Word…
This psalm is David’s prayer for deliverance and protection, seeking refuge in God when faced with injustice. He cries out to God, seeking His attention. David expresses his innocence and pleads for God’s help against those who are deceitful and wicked, seeking justice and protection from his enemies. In verses 14-15, David contrasts the fleeting, worldly pursuits of the wicked with the satisfaction and security found in God’s presence. “Men of the world whose portion is in this life… As for me, I shall behold your face in righteousness; when I awake, I shall be satisfied with your likeness.” Similarly, Luke wrote of the rich fool who said “Soul, you have ample goods laid up for many years; relax, eat, drink, be merry.”’ But God said to him, ‘Fool! This night your soul is required of you, and the things you have prepared, whose will they be?’ So is the one who lays up treasure for himself and is not rich toward God.” (Luke 12:19-21)
