Week 10, Day 2 — Psalm 21
Series: 2025 Bible ReadingAnd now, a minute with the Word…
“Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God” (Philippians 4.6, emp. added). Even when we struggle with the “Do not be anxious” part, we are generally good with the “by prayer and supplication…let your request be made known” part; but oh, how we miss the “with thanksgiving” part. Before we treat God like a cosmic vending machine, we should ask ourselves, do our prayers sound like David’s psalms, filled with gratitude, praise, and trust? In his own words, “What shall I render to the LORD for all his benefits to me?” (Psalm 116.12). Certainly, “[cast] all your anxieties on [the Lord], because he cares for you” (1 Peter 5.7), but don’t forget the rest.
