And now, a minute with the Word…

Jesus said, “this is eternal life, that they know…the only true God” (John 17.3). “And without faith it is impossible to please Him” (Hebrews 11.6), and that faith is described, in the case of Moses, as “seeing Him who is unseen” (verse 27). How do we know God and see the Unseen? The Psalms are incredibly helpful, because they are filled with vivid figures, or word-pictures, that we might “see” the character and conduct of God. For example, as in Psalm 28.1, the Lord is depicted by the word “rock” more than 20 times in the Psalms; as in verse 7, He is a “shield” or He “shields” His people 20 times; as in verse 8, He is “refuge” 47 times; and as in verse 9, He is “shepherd” 4 times.
