Week 12, Day 1 — Psalm 30
Series: 2025 Bible ReadingAnd now, a minute with the Word…
This is a psalm of thanksgiving and praise. David begins by acknowledging God’s power in lifting him out of despair, “for You have drawn me up” (verse 1) and giving him joy after a time of mourning. In verse 5, he stated “Weeping may tarry for the night, but joy comes with the morning.” Similarly, Paul wrote in 2 Corinthians 4:17-18 “For this light momentary affliction is preparing for us an eternal weight of glory beyond all comparison, as we look not to the things that are seen but to the things that are unseen. For the things that are seen are transient, but the things that are unseen are eternal.” These passages highlight the temporary nature of trials and sufferings, followed by the incomparable joy to come for all eternity. David concludes, “O Lord my God, I will give thanks to You forever!” (verse 12)
