Week 6, Day 3 — A minute with the Word
Series: 2024 Bible ReadingAnd now, a minute with the Word…
God’s people have always been called to be different from the world around them. The laws that God gave to the Israelites at Mt. Sinai were starkly different from the nations that surrounded His people during that time. Many of those nations were polytheistic — meaning they worshipped many gods and served many idols. Murder, thievery, bearing false testimony against people were every day, common things among the nations around Israel. God said you are to be different from them. God’s people were to be holy, because God is holy (Leviticus 11.45). In the same way, Christians are to be set apart from those that we would find around us. The things that the world does, we do not participate in (1 Peter 4.1-4, 2 Corinthians 6.14-17). There should be a clear demarcation between those who do not follow God and those who do follow God — and how I conduct myself is a huge part of that.
