Week 44, Day 1 — A minute with the Word
Series: 2024 Bible ReadingAnd now, a minute with the Word…
The Book of Lamentations should remind all of us that ‘the day of the Lord’ will indeed come upon those who refuse to submit to God’s will and live their lives faithfully to Him. While that fact should not be overlooked, we should also focus on the fact that even in the midst of the consequences of sin, God still offers reconciliation to His people. God’s “mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning” (Lamentations 3.22-23). We serve a God that wants to forgive us; we serve a God that wants us to be reconciled to Him. We serve a God that wants all people to come to repentance (Acts 17.30). While this world continues to exist and we still have breath in our lungs, let us remember that every day is an opportunity for us to experience God’s grace. Every day is an opportunity for us to be reconciled to God.
2 Corinthians 5.20-6.2 — “Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, God making His appeal through us. We implore you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God. For our sake He made Him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in Him we might become the righteousness of God. Working together with Him, then, we appeal to you not to receive the grace of God in vain. For He says, ‘In a favorable time I listened to you, and in a day of salvation I have helped you.’ Behold, now is the favorable time; behold, now is the day of salvation.” (ESV)
