And now, a minute with the Word…

Jesus and His message have always faced reservation, resistance, and rejection. When the truth of Jesus conflicts with preconceived notions or established prejudices, some choose unbelief, as did the Nazarenes of Mark 6.1-6. When the truth of Jesus does not “bring peace, but a sword” (Matthew 10.34ff), dividing opinions among neighbors, friends, and family, some choose earthly rather than heavenly relationships. When the truth of Jesus calls for selflessness and sacrifice, some choose the far easier “wide…gate and broad…way that leads to destruction” over the “narrow…gate and difficult…way which leads to life” (Matthew 7.13-14). But despite these disappointing responses, the truth of Jesus remains unchanged— He is “the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through [Him].” (John 14.6)
