And now, a minute with the Word…

In Ephesians 4.22-24 Paul says “to take off your former way of life, the old self that is corrupted by deceitful desires, to be renewed in the spirit of your minds, and to put on the new self, the one created according to God’s likeness in righteousness and purity of the truth.” The person that we are after we put on Christ should look very different from the person we were beforehand. We should be striving day in and day out to be a person that is marked by righteousness. The Christian will have a totally different outlook on life than the non-Christian, the Christian will possess a different character than the non-Christian. If I look at myself and then look at those around me who are non-Christians and I don’t see any difference between how they live versus how I live, I have some serious self examination to do. I need to make every effort to supplement my faith with goodness, my goodness with knowledge, my knowledge with self control, my self control with endurance, my endurance with godliness, my godliness with brotherly affection, and my brotherly affection with love (2 Peter 1.5-7).
