Ephesians 5
Series: 2023 Bible ReadingAnd now, a minute with the Word…
Paul issues a warning here to the Christians in Ephesus. He tells them in v6 to not let any one deceive them with empty arguments, so as to turn them away from the truth. The Christians were to stand firm and hold to the message of the Gospel and live a life that looked very different from the rest of the world. He goes on to tell them that the wrath of God is coming upon the disobedient because of these things (in context, the things that he has listed just previously in the text, going back to the end of chapter 4. This is a warning that we would do well to heed. Do I view sin the same way that God does? If I do not view sin in the same way that God views sin, I am in danger of falling prey to those who would try and deceive me with empty arguments to pull me away from the truth. Christians are to have no partnership with the works of ‘darkness’. Instead, we are to walk in fellowship with God in the light. If we walk in darkness, we have no fellowship with God. “If we walk in the light as he himself is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood Jesus his Son cleanses us from all sin.” (1 John 1.7)
