Hebrews 7
Series: 2023 Bible ReadingAnd now, a minute with the Word…
Verses 23-28 present a remarkable contrast between the Levitical priests — after the order of Aaron, under the Law of Moses — and Jesus, our Great High Priest, after the order of Melchizedek. The former were “many…because they were prevented by death from continuing,” and “need[ed] daily…to offer up sacrifices, first for [their] own sins.” But the Latter “continues forever” with “an unchangeable priesthood,” “able to save to the uttermost,” “always lives to make intercession for them,” “holy, harmless, undefiled, separate from sinners, and…higher than the heavens,” without weakness, and “perfected forever.” “Thanks be to God for his inexpressible gift!” (2 Corinthians 9.15)
