Hebrews 13
Series: 2023 Bible ReadingAnd now, a minute with the Word…
Verse 13 admonishes, “Therefore let us go forth to Him, outside the camp, bearing His reproach.” If these Christians would abide with Christ, they must leave the comfortable “camp” of Judaism and endure with Him, however difficult that might be. What comfortable “camp” must you leave to be joined with Christ? Sin, certainly (Hebrews 12.1; Acts 17.30-31); but perhaps also our physical families (Matthew 10.34-37), worldly pleasures (Hebrews 11.25), religious traditions (Matthew 15.3), merely “having the appearance of godliness” (2 Timothy 3.5), or what we think we already know (2 Corinthians 10.5). Whatever our camp apart from Christ, we must leave it, “For here we have no continuing city, but we seek the one to come” (Hebrews 13.14).
