And now, a minute with the Word…

In Hebrews 9.12, we have three contrasts offered between the High Priestly work done under the Law of Moses and that accomplished by Jesus for us. First, Jesus offered His own precious and perfect blood, not the blood of animals. Second, He entered the presence of God — not the copy of God’s dwelling place, the physical Most Holy Place of the physical tabernacle, but the actual heavenly dwelling place of God (verse 24) — and that “once for all,” not yearly. Third, He “obtained eternal redemption” — not just an annual atonement for the sins of the worshipers, but “He has appeared to put away sin . . . offered once to bear the sins of many” (verses 26-28).
