Colossians 1
Series: 2023 Bible ReadingAnd now, a minute with the Word…
Before we put on Christ in baptism and become a child of God, what are we? Paul told the Colossians that they were once alienated and hostile in mind, doing evil deeds (Colossians 1.21). The word alienated conveys the sense that they had no fellowship with God and being hostile in mind is used to convey that they were opposing God. However, Christ’s death on the cross has the power to reconcile even the most egregious sinner to God and grant them fellowship with Him. The change in the Colossians was evident: they had a strong faith in Jesus and they loved all the saints. Can we say the same about us? Have we changed after becoming a Christian? Having once been alienated from God because of our sin, are we continuing to grow closer to Him and displaying a love for all our brothers and sisters? Let us walk in the light, as He is in the light, and so have fellowship with one another (1 John 1.7).
