Luke 1
Series: 2023 Bible ReadingAnd now, a minute with the Word…
Much like the other Gospels, Luke’s gospel account begins with the premise behind the writing. He carefully investigated everything so that he could write an orderly event for Theophilus, so that he might know with certainty about the things he had been instructed (Luke 1.3-4). He then proceeds to give very detailed accounts of the angels conversation with Zechariah, followed by the foretelling of the birth of Jesus. These are two miraculous events (Elizabeth is advanced past the normal child bearing years for a women, and Mary is a virgin). Luke is showing not only the power of God with these two accounts, but also that God has kept his promises that He made hundreds of years before hand. As we continue to read through Luke’s gospel account, take note at the level of detail that Luke provides to his reader. He wanted Theophilus to be sure of the things that he had been instructed about. We can also be assured of the things that we have been instructed about by reading Luke’s account of the Gospel of Jesus the Christ.
