And now, a minute with the Word…

When an unclean spirit, previously cast out of his host, returns to find the same empty, “swept and put in order,” he rejoices to reclaim the space with seven new roommates. And so it is with us. It is simply insufficient to empty ourselves of all that is evil. This we certainly ought to do, but it is not enough. We must refill that spiritual space with all that is holy and right. As Paul said, “Put off the old man” and “put on the new man” (Ephesians 4.22-24; Colossians 3.9-10). Satan loves a vacuum, and we must resolve not to give him one!
