And now, a minute with the Word…

In verse 9, it is said that Jesus “marveled” at the centurion. In the original language of the New Testament, this word “marveled” (variously translated astonished, wondered, amazed, etc.) appears 45 times, but only twice is it used of Jesus. Here Jesus marveled at the Gentile centurion’s “great faith,” greater than any He had observed among the Jews. By contrast, in Mark 6.6, Jesus “marveled” at the unbelief of those Jews who heard Him teach in His own hometown of Nazareth. So, if Jesus were to marvel at your response to His teaching and power, would He marvel at your unbelief or at your great faith? How are you responding to Him right now?
