Luke 17
Series: 2023 Bible ReadingAnd now, a minute with the Word…
In verse 12, we are introduced to ten lepers who cry out to Jesus to have mercy on them. Jesus sees them, tells them to go to the priests and on their way they are cleansed. This is amazing. This would literally change their lives. As lepers their skin would continually deteriorate. But also they were outcasts from society and family, and now they could be reunited with their loved ones and a part of society. Even with this miraculous healing, we only see one out of ten return to thank Jesus and glorify God. Something for us to consider is how grateful are we for our healing, cleansing, forgiveness? Am I humbly dependent on God or think I got everything covered myself? Am I continually grateful to God for the blessings He’s given or do I forget to be thankful? Who do I resemble: the Samaritan leper who gave thanks and glorified God or the other nine who gave none?
