Acts 1
Series: 2023 Bible ReadingAnd now, a minute with the Word…
Jesus’ ascension (Acts 1.9-11) does not often get the same attention as His birth, life, death, burial, and resurrection, but it is as critical to His story as any of those. What does Jesus’ return to heaven signify? Jesus accomplished the work for which He came (John 17.4) and is now glorified in His heavenly reign (Philippians 2.8-11; Acts 2.22-23, 32-33a, 36; Ephesians 1.18-23). Jesus has triumphed over death, Hades, and Satan (Ephesians 4.7-8; 1 John 3.8b; Revelation 1.17-18), and as promised, He sent the Holy Spirit to complete the work of revealing and confirming His Word (John 14.25-26; 16.7-8, 13; Acts 1.4-8; 2.1-4, 33). Jesus is preparing access to heaven (John 14.1-2; Hebrews 6.19-20), where He currently serves as our Great High Priest (Hebrews 4.14-16), and He is one day coming again (John 14.3; Acts 1.11). Will you be ready for Him then?
