And now a minute with the word...

In this passage, certain men have been teaching it is necessary to be circumcised to be in Christ and to be saved. It results in a great discussion among brethren. It is certainly interesting to see what transpires. Peter declares what God has revealed to him and others. Paul and Barnabas tell about what God has been doing. James references many prophetic scriptures such as Isaiah 9, Jeremiah 33, and Ezekiel 17 to say Gentiles are certainly welcome in God’s kingdom and are not required to be circumcised. These men do not bring up their preferences but what they had understood God had revealed. That is certainly how our beliefs should be. It should not be about what I prefer, but about what God has said and commanded.
