Ananias asked Saul (Acts 22.16), “And now why are you waiting?” Whether regarding the question’s original subject — “Arise and be baptized, and wash away your sins, calling on the name of the Lord” — or some other matter of obedience to the Lord, the same urgency ought to apply. “For what is your life? It is even a vapor that appears for a little time and then vanishes away . . .  But now you boast in your arrogance. All such boasting is evil. Therefore, to him who knows to do good and does not do it, to him it is sin” (James 4.14, 16, 17).
