And now, a minute with the Word…

Jesus said to Saul, “It is hard for you to kick against the goads” (Acts 26.14). What goads (i.e. pricks or prods) does the Lord use to move us in His direction — the direction of surrender and obedience to His will? The Bible itself and the gospel plan of salvation within it; reminders of God’s love for us, in the cross of Jesus Christ and in countless other ways; the work of evangelism, shining His light into the darkness; God’s providence, working for our benefit in ways we might not perceive nor understand, especially through the influence of His people; and our own consciences which, when properly trained, bring guilt and yearning for His forgiveness and fellowship.
