And now, a minute with the Word…

The disciples start to show Jesus the temple buildings, and Jesus warns them that a time is coming when those buildings would be completely dismantled, one stone would not be left upon another. They ask Him when these things will be, and they ask what will be the sign of His coming and of the end of the age? It is possible they’re asking multiple questions without realizing it. Jesus makes it clear that Jerusalem will be destroyed during their generation, and describes it as a terrifying time of tribulation and death and judgment. Jesus seems to end up answering their final question by discussing final judgment, when heaven and earth will pass away. The lesson for the Jews in the first century is the same lesson for us. The lesson for those about to experience the horror of siege and destruction is the same as the lesson for those who will face eternal judgment. Be prepared.
