2 Corinthians 2
Series: 2023 Bible ReadingAnd now, a minute with the word…
The result of a sinner repenting should be one of love and reaffirmation, not one of judgment and resentment. Whoever this man was that Paul mentions in 2 Corinthians 2.7-8, he needed that reaffirmation from his church family in Corinth. If they didn't wrap their arms around him, forgive him and help him move forward with his life in Christ, Paul says that he might be overwhelmed by excessive grief. This is also what our response should be to an erring brother or sister who repents. Let us reaffirm our love for them and help them move forward in their life with Christ. We should avoid the example of the older brother in the Parable of the Lost Son in Luke 15.10-32, and we should instead work to “stir up love and good works” with our restored brother or sister (Hebrews 10.24).
