This life has a way of wearing on us. We experience things all as a result of the sin of mankind that causes hardship and heartache, the loss of a child, the loss of a job, persecution for what you believe in. If we turn our attention toward God during those times, we will be able to weather those storms more effectively. Not because they won't affect us anymore, but because we understand and appreciate that the reward we are working toward, heaven, is far greater than anything we can possibly imagine. “For our momentary light, affliction is producing for us an absolutely incomparable eternal weight of glory” (2 Corinthians 4.17).
