2 Corinthians 10
Series: 2023 Bible ReadingAnd now, a minute with the Word…
By what standard do we evaluate our spiritual lives? We often look at ourselves through “rose colored glasses,” without any objective standard at all, and decide that we are “doing pretty well,” or at least “not that bad, really.” Or we might look toward others who seem to be doing particularly well and become discouraged by comparison. These “are not wise” (2 Corinthians 10.12). On the other hand, we could look at those who are not doing well and become arrogant by comparison, but Jesus condemned those “who trusted in themselves that they were righteous, and despised others” (Luke 18.9-14). Rather, “‘He that glories, let him glory in the Lord.’ For not he who commends himself is approved, but whom the Lord commends” (2 Corinthians 10.17-18).
