2 Corinthians 9
Series: 2023 Bible ReadingAnd now, a minute with the Word…
As Paul exhorted the Corinthians to fulfill their gift for needy saints elsewhere, he reminded them, “And God is able to make all grace abound toward you, that you, always having all sufficiency in all things, may have an abundance for every good work” (2 Corinthians 9.8). By my count, there are seven superlatives in that single sentence, and it is one of my favorite verses in the New Testament, because it powerfully reminds us of two important truths. First, God (and only God) is the author of abounding grace that is able to meet our every physical and spiritual need. And second, His abounding grace is not intended for our selfish use, but “for every good work,” toward Him and toward our fellow man.
