And now, a minute with the Word…

In Mark 12.28, Jesus was asked, “Which is the first commandment of all?” He replied, in verses 29-31, “The first of all the commandments is: ‘Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength.’ . . . And the second, like it, is this: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’” As Christians, most of the time we remember “the first,” at least in theory; and probably “the second,” too, at least when dealing with friends, co-workers, classmates, and strangers. But 1 Peter 3.1-12 remind us to apply “the second” where it is too often neglected — in our marriages and with our fellow saints.
