And now, a minute with the Word…

In this last of seven “I am” statements, Jesus said, “I am the true vine, and My Father is the vinedresser . . . I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing” (John 15.1,5). This passage teaches us four vital lessons. 1. Jesus is the TRUE vine, the only source of life, but only for those who abide in Him (John 15.1,5). 2. Abiding in Him requires abiding in His word (John 15.3,7,10). 3. Abiding in Him requires bearing fruit to the glory of God, and being cultivated by God to bear more fruit (John 15.1-5,8). 4. Judgment awaits those who do not bear fruit (John 15.6).
