And now, a minute with the Word…

Much speculation has been offered regarding “the mark of the beast” (Revelation 13.17), “the number of the beast…666” (verse 18), and the specific identities of the sea-beast (verses 1-10) and earth-beast (verse 11-18). But this much is certain — the earth-beast derived his authority from the sea-beast (Revelation 13.12), and the sea-beast derived his authority from the dragon (verse 2), i.e. Satan himself (12.9). These two of the devil’s co-agents speak to the breadth of his influence, infecting every level of life “under the sun.” Indeed, “the whole world lies under the sway of the wicked one” (1 John 5.19), and we must beware!
