And now, a minute with the Word…

Revelation 18.4— “Then I heard another voice from heaven saying, ‘Come out of her, my people, lest you take part in her sins, lest you share in her plagues; (ESV)

God has always called his children to be set apart to Him. When we commit our lives to Him, we are leaving behind the things of the world. We are choosing to live the life that God has called us to live. It’s a repeated call in the OT and elsewhere in the NT.

Deuteronomy 7.3-4 — “You shall not intermarry with them, giving your daughters to their sons or taking their daughters for your sons, for they would turn away your sons from following me, to serve other gods…” (ESV)

2 Corinthians 6.16-17 — “What agreement has the temple of God with idols? For we are the temple of the living God; as God said, ‘I will make my dwelling among them and walk among them, and I will be their God, and they shall be my people. Therefore, go out from their midst, and be separate from them, says the Lord, and touch no unclean thing; then I will welcome you.” (ESV)

There is coming a day when all who stand opposed to God will receive their due reward (2 Corinthians 5.10). If I am no different from those of the world in this life, why should I expect to receive anything different from those of the world at the end of time, on the day of judgment?
