Revelation 20
Series: 2023 Bible ReadingAnd now, a minute with the Word…
Revelation 20.9-10 — “And they marched up over the broad plain of the earth and surrounded the camp of the saints and the beloved city, but fire came down from heaven and consumed them, and the devil who had deceived them was thrown into the lake of fire and sulfur where the beast and the false prophet were, and they will be tormented day and night forever and ever.” (ESV)
God wins. Even when the situation looks the bleakest, God is in control and He will not be defeated. That’s the message of the book of Revelation and it is the outcome depicted here in vivid terms. Satan will not win. God and his saints will be victorious. This is a message that is spread throughout the pages of Scripture; beginning with the prophecy about Jesus in Genesis 3.15, or the account of the 10 plagues sent upon the Egyptians in Exodus 7-12, or in other passages such as Hebrews 2.14. If we have the perseverance and endurance to run our race faithfully to the end, we too will be victorious with God and receive our crown of life (Revelation 2.10).
