Week 2, Day 1 — A minute with the Word
Series: 2024 Bible ReadingAnd now, a minute with the Word…
Hebrews 7.1-7: “For this Melchizedek, king of Salem, priest of the Most High God, met Abraham returning from the slaughter of the kings and blessed him, and to him Abraham apportioned a tenth part of everything . . . See how great this man was to whom Abraham the patriarch gave a tenth of the spoils! . . . This man…received tithes from Abraham and blessed him who had the promises. It is beyond dispute that the inferior is blessed by the superior.” The greatness of our spiritual forefather Abraham is beyond question, but even greater is Jesus Christ, the Son of God, our Great High Priest forever after the order of Melchizedek, through Whom we receive “every spiritual blessing” (Ephesians 1.3) and “offer up a sacrifice of praise to God, that is, the fruit of lips that acknowledge His name” (Hebrews 13.15).
