Week 4, Day 1 — A minute with the Word
Series: 2024 Bible ReadingAnd now, a minute with the Word…
Genesis 38 and 39 present a remarkable contrast between two of Jacob’s twelve sons, Judah and Joseph. In Genesis 38, Judah’s integrity failed regarding his responsibilities toward Tamar (verses 11, 14, 26), he committed fornication with her (verses 12-19), and he played the hypocrite in his indignation at her immorality (verse 24-26). By contrast, in Genesis 39, Joseph’s integrity was recognized even by a pagan Egyptian (verses 1-6), he refused to commit fornication with his master’s wife (verses 7-18), and he did not waver from his righteousness even under the harshest and most unjust circumstances (verses 19-23). Who are you — a Judah, or a Jospeh?
