Week 5, Day 2 — A minute with the Word
Series: 2024 Bible ReadingAnd now, a minute with the Word...
At this point in the story of the family of Jacob, they are enslaved to the Egyptians and forced to do hard, manual labor. They are slaves in a land that is not the land promised to Abraham. God told Abraham in Genesis 15.13-14, that his “offspring would be sojourners in a land that is not theirs and will be servants there, and they will be afflicted for four hundred years. But I will bring judgment on the nation that they serve…”. The time of judgment was coming. This was the moment that God had chosen to redeem the family of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob from their bondage in Egypt. God had not forgotten his promise. And just as God did not forget his promise to Abraham, he will not forget his promise to us either. God will come again one day and redeem his people to himself and we will be united with God in heaven. Let us always be anticipating that glorious day.
