And now, a minute with the Word...

The plagues that God was to send upon the Egyptians served a purpose. They were to show that the Lord was God. There would be no doubt whether the gods that the Egyptians served or Jehovah was the true God. Throughout scripture God has used signs to confirm his power or to confirm the message being given by one of his messengers (Exodus 7.8-10, Mark 2.5-12, Acts 2.22). When we read specific signs or wonders that God does throughout the pages of Scripture, we should be amazed by what we read, but we should also think about what the purpose of the signs were: to show the power of God and to confirm his message.
