Week 5, Day 5 — A minute with the Word
Series: 2024 Bible ReadingAnd now, a minute with the Word...
While giving instructions to the Israelites at the institution of the Passover, God tells them the “blood shall be a sign for you, on the houses where you are. And when I see the blood, I will pass over you, and no plague will befall you to destroy you, when I strike the land of Egypt.” The blood of the spotless Passover lamb was the saving agent.
We also can relate to being saved by blood that has been shed. Jesus, the Son of God, lived a sinless life and offered up his body as the atonement for our sins. If we have become a child of God, we have come in contact with the blood of Jesus in baptism. His blood instituted a new covenant, and his blood cleanses us from our sins. (Matthew 26.28)
