Week 8, Day 1 — Leviticus 1-3
Series: 2024 Bible ReadingAnd now, a minute with the Word…
In Leviticus 2.13, the Lord told Israel, “With all your offerings you shall offer salt.” Salt’s significance is not explained, but it was clearly important, and so it remains for God’s people today. “You are the salt of the earth, but if salt has lost its taste, how shall its saltiness be restored? It is no longer good for anything except to be thrown out and trampled under people’s feet” (Matthew 5.13). “Have salt in yourselves, and be at peace with one another” (Mark 9.50). “Let your speech always be gracious, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how you ought to answer each person” (Colossians 4.6). So, as we “offer spiritual sacrifices” to God (1 Peter 2.5), don’t forget the salt!
