Week 11, Day 2 — Numbers 12-14
Series: 2024 Bible ReadingAnd now, a minute with the Word…
To whom will we listen? From the beginning, this is the most fundamental question to chart one’s course with the Lord. Eve had to heed either the voice of God, “you shall surely die” (Genesis 2.17), or the voice of the serpent, “You will not surely die” (3.4). In Numbers 13-14, Israel faced a similar choice — the voice of Caleb (and Joshua), “we are well able to overcome it” (13.30), or the voices of the other ten spies, “We are not able to go up against the people” (13.31). Like Eve (Genesis 3.6-24), Israel chose to heed the wrong voice (Numbers 14), and disaster followed. Learn the lesson: “Pay attention to what you hear” (Mark 4.24).
