Week 11, Day 5 — A minute with the Word
Series: 2024 Bible ReadingAnd now, a minute with the Word…
For their disobedience (Numbers 20.8-11), Moses and Aaron were sentenced to die in the wilderness, without entering the Promised Land. Considering their decades of faithful service and leadership, why the severity? The Lord said, “Because you did not believe in me, to uphold me as holy in the eyes of the people of Israel” (20.12), and later, “because you rebelled against my word…failing to uphold me as holy at the waters before their eyes” (27.14). Disobedience is punished as sin, because it is rebellion against the will of the Lord, because it neglects God’s holiness, and because it manifests unbelief, i.e. a failure of faith and trust in the Lord.
