Numbers 33.52 — “you must drive out all the people living there. You must destroy all their carved and molten images and demolish all their pagan shrines.” (NLT)

God told the people of Israel that they needed to destroy the idols of the people that lived in the land of Canaan. They were not to leave them standing. This has an application for me today. When I become a child of God, I am to remove the things in my life that are contrary to the will of God and I am to become more like him. If I don’t “remove the idols” from my life completely, I will be no different from the Israelites. Ensnared by things that take me away from God and separated from Him by my sin.

Ephesians 4.22-24 — “to take off your former way of life, the old self that is corrupted by deceitful desires, to be renewed in the spirit of your minds, and to put on the new self, the one created according to God’s likeness in righteousness and purity of the truth.” (CSB)
